Maersk Line is the world’s largest container company. It has offices in 116 countries and their main office in the UK is in Liverpool. I was commissioned to produce some staff portraits for use in printed promotional material and online publicity and communications. The brief was to produce images that were informal and portrayed the subjects in a relaxed, friendly and approachable manner.
The shoot took place at their Liverpool office, during the course of a normal working day. I had to ensure that there was as little disruption to the workday routine and this meant that time spent with each person was strictly limited.
Additionally, the final images had to fit in with the style of photographs already in use. Further attention to detail was to include the company logo in some of the images and, on my suggestion, asking the staff to wear clothing that matched the corporate palette – this can be seen in the jackets, shirts and ties etc that match the furniture and fittings in the office. This means that when the images are used on the corporate website or in their publications, the colours on the images tie in with the design palette, giving a universal look to their website and publications.
